Let's talk about running. We hit the jackpot when we moved to Maple Valley. There are many beautiful trails around that we love running and biking on. And many of them are wide enough for our double bob running stroller, which is a gift straight from Heaven! Were on those trails almost everyday. There is a paved trail that Michael bikes to work on a few times a week. Its about 13 miles each way. The girls and I usually head the other direction towards the lake, park, library, store, church, etc. Our car often just sits in the parking lot. After a long snowy winter in Spokane, and with injuries and pregnancy before that it had been too long since I've been able to run so much so regularly. And as soon as we got here, we hit the ground running, literally!! And havent really stopped since!
Michael and I both did a half marathon at the beginning of June. We only even heard about it a few weeks before but since it was on our own beautiful trail we could not pass it up. Fortunately we had been running already and threw in a couple longer runs the couple weeks leading up to the race and we felt pretty prepared and confident going into it. It was perfect weather and a great race day. Michael was the second finisher over-all and I was the first female finisher. It wasn't a huge race, but still felt good to go out there and give it our best. Michael finished in 1:42 and I finished in 1:44, so for the slightly longer than 13.1 miles, I was able to hold a 7:47 pace.
The other race on this post was a 10k put on by our church. Which was also on our beautiful trail. I say "our" because I am already having possession issues and consider it my own. Another smaller race, but we still wanted to go out hard and Michael finished second finisher over-all and I was the first female finisher again. Michael's time was 44:48 and mine was 47:22 with a 7:22 pace.
There was also a 1k kid's race that Oaklyn did! She loved it!!
