Because when you are 9 months pregnant you need a project...

Ta-da! Craft project of the year = complete! When we lived in Portland, we "acquired" an awesome little picnic table for kids. It had obviously been outside in the rain for years and years and years, and had definitely seen better days. Nevertheless, the table made it with us to Spokane and it has been our little project over the past couple months. First, we took it all apart and took all the wood to the self car wash to power-wash all the dirt and moss off : ) Then, Michael sanded all the wood before we stained it. The next step was the most fun- painting! Oaklyn and I painted a couple boards a day, and she proudly did a few all by herself. We were totally just winging it and it ended up having somewhat of a tribal influence. Considering we didn't use real paint brushes, other than the big foam ones, Q-tips, and pencil erasers, it turned out pretty good! After that, we threw on a generous coat of weatherproof sealer. Oh, and then one more thing...reassembling the table : ) Looking back, we should have paid a little more attention to detail before taking it apart. haha. But, in the end, it all worked out and now we have a sweet "new" kid table!

  3. Ha! When you said you painted the table using Q-tips etc, I was picturing a solid color and you were being particular about the cracks and holes. I scrolled down to continue.... and Voila! Check out the pattern! It's beautiful! Super. Well done and congrats on the result of a great team effort. So rewarding after all the salvage work.
