Easter Egg Fun

On Saturday, Michael had class all day and after dropping him off that morning, Oaklyn and I got home and I thought to myself, "What in the world are we going to do all day?" (Because when you are literally about to have a baby any day, you don't exactly have a full schedule). So, I did what we all do in situations like this, and I googled "What to do in Spokane today". And thanks to the magic of the internet, it didn't take long for us to have a few ideas.

Oaklyn and I quickly got in the car and headed over to what I thought was an Easter Egg Hunt for the community at a local Lutheran church. In my experience, Easter egg hunts only last like 10 minutes at the most, so I didn't expect to be gone long. As it turns out, it was a much larger event than I thought (translation= I should have brought more snacks...for myself). The kids were split up by age groups and the whole morning was filled with different fun activities, like craft time, music time, Easter video, game time, story time, and of course, the Easter Egg Hunt.

At the bottom of this post, I tried adding a couple videos. You will not regret watching them : ) Enjoy!

At first, she would ONLY grab the pink eggs and run right past all the other colors, but as the eggs got fewer and fewer she got less picky

Craft Time

Oaklyn's favorite part just might have been holding the jump rope to walk from station to station.

 We tried : ) haha

At least she is looking the right direction now : )

Here is a gem for you : )

That's my girl : )

And a random bonus picture. Oaklyn loves walking to the "Little Free Library" to exchange one of her old books for a new one

Because when you are 9 months pregnant you need a project...

Ta-da! Craft project of the year = complete! When we lived in Portland, we "acquired" an awesome little picnic table for kids. It had obviously been outside in the rain for years and years and years, and had definitely seen better days. Nevertheless, the table made it with us to Spokane and it has been our little project over the past couple months. First, we took it all apart and took all the wood to the self car wash to power-wash all the dirt and moss off : ) Then, Michael sanded all the wood before we stained it. The next step was the most fun- painting! Oaklyn and I painted a couple boards a day, and she proudly did a few all by herself. We were totally just winging it and it ended up having somewhat of a tribal influence. Considering we didn't use real paint brushes, other than the big foam ones, Q-tips, and pencil erasers, it turned out pretty good! After that, we threw on a generous coat of weatherproof sealer. Oh, and then one more thing...reassembling the table : ) Looking back, we should have paid a little more attention to detail before taking it apart. haha. But, in the end, it all worked out and now we have a sweet "new" kid table!

#IStinkAtBloggingLately #GetReadyForAPhotoBomb

It's been about two years now since I have started this little family blog. It's safe to say that lately I have been pretty lousy about keeping up with it. At the end of each year, I have printed the blog into a book, to keep as a family journal/scrapbook of sorts. I love having a hard copy of the year's adventures. So, despite my recent neglect, in an attempt to redeem myself and keep the tradition alive, here is a photo bomb of some recent happenings.

The sun has broken through a few times, so we took advantage of walking to watch the tractors and dump trucks at work.

It was a sad day when Oaklyn's ice castle melted. She is still surprised when she doesn't see it outside anymore and asks where it went. She rarely wears clothes so I didn't even notice her "outfit" until someone pointed it out to me. This is a pretty regular look for her,

Just before the rain came to melt all our snow, we took Oaklyn snowshoeing for the first time. Kind of cool that we could go straight out our front door. In case you were wondering, we were the ones snowshoeing on top of the huge berms on the side of the road until we got to some "wilderness."

My mom and I went down to Roseburg to visit the Martins. It's always good for Princess Oaklyn to get roughened up by her cousins. Thanks to a thorough tutorial, she can now light saber fight with the best of them.

The scariest part of the Safari is always the ostrich's.

And of course, the best view of the animals was with her head out the sun roof while sitting on top of my head.

Cousin Jack or Oaklyn?

Oaklyn or Jack? These pics were taken over the summer, but I just realized that they are the exact same!!

Some days God gives you a glimpse of heaven by showing you that a little bit of heaven lives in you.

If those are already her cheeks, we are in for a real treat : )

Meanwhile, outside the womb...on the same day haha : )

We discovered a little nature reserve pretty close to out house and found some sweet treasures along the trail

And sometimes we make pepperoni beds for our fairies.
