San Diego
The happy thoughts of a trip to San Diego got us through a long, gray, wet, pregnancy filled winter. What was originally going to be a long weekend family trip to visit the Roelofs turned into me taking the girls a week early and then Michael meeting up with us the second weekend. Because, why not! It was AMAZING to finally see the sun again! The high's were only about 60-65 degrees, but it felt so great to us, even though the locals were wearing scarfs and sweaters. They were literally handing out fleece blankets at church! We had such a fun time walking everywhere-to parks, beach, harbor, downtown, ice-cream, the market, yoga, paddle boarding, skim boarding, Old Town SD, and Trader Joes (on the daily)! We also loved the tide pools and food at Ocean Beach, the San Diego Temple, forest school, Balboa park, and the Navy Base. We also got to experience lots of "daily life" together which left us all exhausted but happy to be together. Poor Brooks got the brunt of Whitley's asserting dominance. Jaeda and Oaklyn could happily play for hours and hours. And of course, Elle and I could talk non stop even being completely exhausted with pregnancy and no husbands around while Michael was still in Washington and Justin worked nights. I loved every minute and wouldn't trade it for anything.
