A Few Races

In July, we did the Tiger Tri and in August, we did the Longbridge Swim.

The first triathlon I ever did was the Tiger Tri, back in 2009, so it was fun to go back and do it again years later. It's a great point-to-point course, consisting of a .6 mile swim, 25 mile bike, and 5 mile run. Shout out to Michael for winning his age group!

Thumbs up, Oaklyn!

The Longbridge Swim has been on my bucket-list for a while! It was such a blast and one of the most fun races I've ever done. It was 1.76 miles and was the first long distance open water swim race for the both of us. It was in Sandpoint, Idaho, across Lake Pend Orielle, from one shore to the other, paralleling Long Bridge. There were over 700 swimmers, so initially we did not plan on sticking together, but by some miracle we did, and were able to take turns drafting off each other. Since I wore a wetsuit and Michael did not, that leveled the playing field, otherwise there was no way I could keep up with him. Drafting off of him definitely helped me keep up and when I was leading, it gave me motivation to swim hard so I wouldn't slow him down. Out of the 700 swimmers, we placed 152 and 153.

Thanks for cheering us on, Whit!
