We drove a full car and a moving truck from Portland up to Spokane in the middle of August. We dropped off all our things and soon left for a road trip down to Utah to see some family and friends. We had not been to Utah since graduating from BYU in 2011, just before we got married, so it was fun to see old faces and places. On the way down, we stopped in Southern Idaho to see my grandparents and then kept heading south until we got to Michael's grandparent's house in Cedar City Utah, picking up our cousins, Kayla and Kenna along the way. That was about our 3rd day straight of driving, and by the time our trip was done, we had driven about 2700 miles. We spent a few days in Cedar City, hiking Cedar Breaks, running, and going to the famous outdoor Shakespeare festival. Then we went up to Salt Lake City and stayed with the Bradleys. We took many day trips to Provo to see old friends, visit BYU campus, hiking Provo Peak, and eating lots of our favorite Graham Canyon ice cream. We also got to attend a session at the Salt Lake Temple. We got to stay with the Stakers on our way back up to Spokane.
Smelling tulips at the Payson Temple
Lots of quality family bonding time in the car
As we drove through Idaho, there were a lot of wildfires, which closed a major highway, taking us on an additional 3 hour detour. We could see the smoke line in the sky
