Seattle

We took a trip up to Seattle to visit some friends and family a couple weekends ago. We first met up with Elle and Jaeda at Pikes Place Market and ate some of the most delicious peaches I have ever had in my life. Then, we kept on heading north, to Blaine, WA to visit Michael's aunt and uncle. Debbie and I went to an awesome Clubbell yoga class while Michael and Oaklyn went hiking with Scott. Then, we met up at the beach to play in the sand and water and watched the annual sand castle competition. We had a big BBQ for lunch and then took a quick jaunt up to Canada to walk a seaside main street and to get some Canadian treats. Then, after dinner, we went kayaking out in the ocean. The sun was setting and it was beautiful! We had a beautiful view of Mt. Baker and the San Juan Islands. We even saw a jellyfish way up close. We think it was alive, but basically it was just a blob. I think living jellyfishes are also just blobs, so it was hard to tell the difference : ) Before we left Blaine, Michael and I even got a personal watercolor lesson from Scott. On the way back to Portland, we met up with Steph at Greenlake Park for a few hours. Sums up to a pretty fun weekend!

I think this is when we discovered that Michael's pansy looked like Darth Vader and mine looks like a mix between the jelly fish we saw the night before and a guardian angel.

This is Oaklyn's way of blocking the sun from her eyes on the car ride home.

Rowing the Willamette

Living in Portland, where the Willamette River splits the city in half, we always see rowing teams on the water. Michael has always wanted to try it, so for the month of June, he took a class through Lake Oswego's learn to row group. They met twice a week and Oaklyn and I were lucky enough to get to join the coach on her power boat and get front row seats of all the action! Oaklyn loved being on the boat and was a trooper when our boat battery died in the middle of the river and we had one oar to paddle us back to the boat house : )

Three Year Throwback

Lavender Haven

When Oaklyn was 1 week old, we went over to our friend's lavender farm and took some newborn photos of Oaklyn and also a few family pictures. We took family pictures there again last year, when Oaklyn turned one, and you guessed it, we went back again this year. Thanks to our dear friend, Holly, who could be bribed with a box of Odwalla bars, to come with us to snap a few shots : )
