A few weekends ago, we went hiking with our friends, the Thorums, up Dog Mountain. It was on the Washington side of the Columbia River, overlooking the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. It was one of the most beautiful hikes we have been on in a while. We went at just the right time of the year, at the top, there were meadows of wildflowers everywhere! The weather was pretty crazy, too! The hike started off so hot, we were dying, regretting wearing so many layer, but by the time we got to the top, it was freezing! The wind was howling and the rain started coming down. We could see our breath. And in the blink on an eye, we were all of a sudden in the middle of clouds and our beautiful view was gone! Good thing we got a picture part way up : ) And of course, by the time we started descending, we quickly got hot again. Definitely a hike worth doing again! Oaklyn was a trooper...as long as we kept feeding her string cheese. She even fell asleep on the way down. Rough life.
Don't let the pictures fool you, Michael did most of the heavy lifting by carrying Oaklyn, I just got all the credit in the pictures!
